On public health protection

Members of the Committee on Social Policy, Health, Labor, Family and Childhood considered amendments to the law “On protection of public health from exposure to environmental tobacco smoke and the effects of tobacco consumption”. The law-in-draft was introduced by Deputy of the Supreme Council Grigory Dyachenko. The author proposed to prohibit the sale of devices that mimic tobacco smoking to minors and prohibit their use in public places. We are talking about electronic cigarettes and hookahs. The law-in-draft also proposes to establish restrictions on their advertising.

It is necessary according to the author to enshrine the concepts of “imitating smoking tobacco”, “devices that imitate smoking tobacco”, “electronic hookahs” and “evaporative mixtures”.

Smoking imitation devices are becoming increasingly popular in the republic. Deputies of the profile committee, speaking in favor of the need to preserve the health of the nation, supported the law-in-draft proposed by their counterpart in the deputy corps. It will be recommended for adoption in the first reading in plenary session.

Deputies during the meeting considered on the instructions of the Chairman of the Supreme Council an appeal of the republican public movement “OSTK Pridnestrovie”. It proposes making changes to the law “On Social Protection of War Veterans,” in order to expand the categories of citizens who are recognized as participants in hostilities to protect the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

It was decided at the meeting of the Committee to discuss this issue in working order. Representatives of the Ministries of Defense and Social Protection and Labor will be invited to the conversation.
