The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vitaly Ignatiev in the course of the meeting of the Parliamentary Commission on Foreign Policy and International Relations told the deputies about the political and diplomatic efforts of the Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry to prevent a humanitarian and economic crisis in the republic.

This is not the first time that Pridnestrovie has encountered problems with gas supplies, according to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. However, the most negative scenarios were avoided by consolidating the efforts of all interested parties in previous years. Today's problem with energy supplies to Pridnestrovie could have been avoided. However, the Moldovan side, which largely contributed to the emergence of the energy crisis in our republic, is not seeking to solve the problem today. There is still no full-fledged dialogue between Pridnestrovie and Moldova. The Pridnestrovian side proposed holding meetings in the "5+2" format, as well as in the format of conferences at various venues over the past year, including the OSCE. However, Kishinev did not meet it halfway.

Pridnestrovie officially appealed to Moldova to send a joint appeal to Russia and Ukraine with a request to ensure gas transit in early December. However, this appeal was also ignored.

The lack of dialogue and unwillingness of Kishinev to constructively resolve existing problems ultimately led to the energy crisis in Pridnestrovie.

Answering questions from parliamentarians, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic emphasized that all interested parties are informed about the current crisis situation in the republic and the risks that Pridnestrovie may face if the situation is not resolved in the near future.

Members of the parliamentary Commission on Foreign Policy unanimously supported in the course of the meeting the draft statement of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic on the need to take urgent measures to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in the republic. The corresponding Resolution was submitted to the 2nd Extraordinary Session of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, which will be held today, January 10.
