Based on applications from large families

The state every year helps families with many children whose average income is below the subsistence level with school supplies. Stationery is issued in the amount of 24 minimum wage (232 rubles 80 kopecks) for each child every year. Is it possible to replace the issuance of educational supplies with a cash payment, this question was considered by the deputies of the Committee on Social Policy in the course of the meeting. The law-in-draft prepared by the Government amends the law “On State Support for Large Families”.

According to the Ministry of Social Protection and Labor, parents of schoolchildren offered to receive annual compensation for the purchase of school supplies. The reason was also the fact that the issuance of stationery is not the responsibility of teachers.

The law-in-din the first reading will be discussed by the deputies at one of the plenary sessions. Parents of schoolchildren from large families will be able to buy their favorite notebooks, pens, pencil cases or other school supplies with state money if the initiative is taken. An option is being considered – to issue vouchers or certificates for a fixed amount.
