Adjustment of legislation in the field of advertising

The Committee on Legislation considered amendments to the Law "On Advertising" and the Code of Administrative Offenses. The deputies of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Galina Antyufeeva and Sergey Cheban the authors of the legislative initiatives. It is proposed to bring some terms and formulations in line with other laws. This will make it possible to enshrine a ban on advertising of traditional medicine (healing) in the law "On Advertising" if there is no appropriate permission from the Ministry of Healthcare.

In addition, the law will add a ban on advertising evaporative mixtures and devices that imitate tobacco smoking, prescribed in the law “On protecting the health of citizens from exposure to second hand tobacco smoke, the consequences of tobacco consumption and other nicotine-containing mixtures without tobacco content” along with the ban on advertising alcoholic beverages, tobacco and other products in the media.

The authors of the amendments propose to single out a separate offense for violating advertising about medicines, medical devices and services, including methods of treatment in the Code of Administrative Offenses.

The deputies of the Legislation Committee supported the legislations of their colleagues and will recommend its adoption in the first reading in the course of one of the plenary sessions.
