The working week in the highest legislative body of the republic ended with a meeting of the relevant committee. The promptness of its convocation was caused by the need to consider and approve the draft two decisions of the Supreme Council “On the removal of the chief editor of the state republican media - the newspaper “Gomin” and “On the removal of the chief editor of the state republican media - the newspaper “Adeverul Nistryan”. Documents were prepared on the basis of their applications for dismissal.
Deputies of the relevant committee voted to include these issues on the agenda of the next plenary meeting of the Supreme Council. The decision to adopt resolutions is the prerogative of the entire deputy corps acting in accordance with the law. As it was noted during the Committee’s meeting, in accordance with the provisions of the Law “On the Mass Media” (Articles 8-2), the editor-in-chief of the state republican mass media can be prematurely dismissed on the grounds provided for by the PMR Labor Code by adopting a decision of the Supreme Council. The corresponding submission must be sent by the authorized government executive body of state power in the field of mass media to the legislature within five working days so that the deputies adopt the relevant resolution.
In the event of the resolution of the Supreme Council on dismissal of the chief editor of the state republican media adoption, a new candidate must be submitted to parliament within one month.
