The Housing Code Changes

12.07.2022

The Committee on Regional Policy, Local Self-Government, Housing and Public Utilities prepared amendments to the Housing Code for consideration in the second final reading. The authors of the initiative are Ruslan Gareev, Anton Onufrienko, Igor Yarych, Oleg Baev, Oleg Leontiev and Boris German – initially proposed to reduce the number of votes of the owners of premises in an apartment building, which is necessary to make a decision on choosing a way to manage the house. It will be necessary to gain more than half of the votes of the total number of owners at the general meeting to do this.

Taking into consideration the amendments to the law-in-draft, this rule may also apply to other decisions, such as the reconstruction of the house (expansion or superstructure), the construction of outbuildings, the repair of common property, the election of a house supervisor.

The new rule will apply to apartment buildings of any form of government: homeowners associations, cooperatives, or those in the service of housing and communal services. The Committee on Regional Policy plans to submit amendments to the Housing Code for consideration by the deputies on July 13.
