Amendments and additions to the law “On Education”

Комитет по образованию, науке, культуре, общественным объединениям, спорту, информационной и молодежной политике

28.09.2023

The Ministry of Education will establish the procedure, form and frequency of current and intermediate certification in schools and technical schools. Deputies of the relevant parliamentary Committee Igor Buga, Andrey Safonov and Pavel Shinkaryuk proposed amendments and additions to the law “On Education”.

The previous version of the relevant law contained a norm according to which it was the Ministry of Education that developed a regulatory document that regulated the process of conducting current and intermediate certifications. For example, it prescribed the procedure for conducting transfer exams, assigning grades for quarters and for the current year. However, the current legislation does not establish uniform requirements for current and intermediate certifications.

The Committee will recommend adopting the law-in-draft in two readings at once in the course of one of the next plenary meetings. The new norms will come into force 60 days after signing by the President and official publication if the law-in-draft is adopted by the parliamentary corps in the second final reading.

Another law-in-draft on introducing amendments to the PMR Law “On Education” has been prepared for the second reading. The government proposes to enshrine the concept of “information system for academic achievement” in the relevant law. We are talking about the work of the automated information system “Electronic Journal”, which is well known to many Pridnestrovians.

Schools, lyceums and gymnasiums of the republic began a gradual transfer of paper school magazines into electronic form several years ago. Recording homework, summarizing the results of the quarter, assigning grades in the electronic system are allowed to teachers working in such an electronic accounting system. Parents have the opportunity to monitor their child’s progress in real time through their personal account.

The law-in-draft on introducing amendments to the PMR Law “On Education” will be considered at one of the upcoming plenary sessions. The new norms will come into force immediately after signing by the head of state and official publication if adopted in the final reading. The detailed procedure for using the automated system for recording academic performance will be enshrined at the level of by-laws developed by the Ministry of Education.
