Quarantine due to coronavirus infection in Pridnestrovie continues. Schools and other educational institutions are open, but canteens have not yet resumed their activities. The President Vadim Krasnoselsky submitted to the Supreme Council an initiative to extend state support for children who have the right to subsidized meals. According to the law on state support measures during the period of the state of emergency and quarantine, they receive food packages or monetary compensation of their choice. In the current version, this state support is provided while educational institutions are closed. The law-in-draft that is presented in the mode of legislative initiative, specifies that schoolchildren and pupils of educational institutions can count on such social support as long as catering is not allowed in them. The right to receive food packages is proposed to be extended to minor children with disabilities who, in person or in absentia, attend medical and social preventive institutions, rehabilitation centers (departments) of day care for children with disabilities, but who do not fall under the conditions for payment of monetary compensation. When this category of children reaches legal capacity (by age or for medical reasons), they will be able to independently submit an application to replace the food set with monetary compensation.
The law-in-draft on amending the law on measures of state support during the period of emergency and quarantine, introduced in the mode of legislative necessity, will be considered by the Supreme Council in the course of the plenary session this week.
