Law-in-draft on amendments and additions to the Labor Code of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic was discussed in the course of the meeting of the Committee on Social Policy and Healthcare. Its authors are deputies Alexander Korshunov and Sergei Cheban. The law-in-draft, developed on the basis of an official appeal, is intended to eliminate the legal gap in labor legislation.
The Labor Code stipulates that a citizen working part-time can take annual paid leave only simultaneously with leave for his main job. If the duration of leave at a part-time job is less than at the main job, then the employer, at the request of the employee, can provide him with leave without pay for the corresponding duration.
However, according to deputies, the Labor Code does not establish rules governing the procedure for bringing vacations to the same length or granting vacations in a situation where vacation at a part-time job is longer than vacation at the main place of work.
The law-in-draft proposes to enshrine in the Labor Code norms that will allow an employee working part-time to use vacation or part of it at his request, regardless of whether he is on vacation at his main place of work or not. It is proposed to provide for cases where the duration of vacation at a part-time job is longer than at the main job. If such a situation arises, the employer at the request of the employee will be obliged to provide him with annual paid leave of the appropriate duration.
The law-in-draft on amendments and additions to the Labor Code of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic will be considered in the first reading at one of the upcoming plenary meetings.
