The Supreme Council adopted in the final reading the law on a complete ban on propaganda of non-traditional values in Pridnestrovie. Parliamentarians unanimously supported amendments and additions to 7 laws developed by deputies of the Committee on Education, Public Associations and Mass Media Igor Buga, Andrei Safonov and Pavel Shinkaryuk in the course of the plenary session.
The innovations prohibit the propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations or preferences, gender reassignment and refusal to have children among both children and adults. The Pridnestrovian legislation prohibited previously only the propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations and only among minors.
The changes affected the Internet, media, advertising and cinema. For example, advertising that promotes or demonstrates non-traditional sexual relations, gender reassignment or refusal to have children is now prohibited by law. Films containing such information will not receive a distribution certificate and will not be shown in Pridnestrovian cinemas as a result.
Administrative liability in the form of fines was provided for the propaganda of non-traditional values. For citizens – up to 100 minimum wages (1840 rubles). For officials - up to 150 minimum wages (2760 rubles). For legal entities - up to 250 minimum wages (4600 rubles) or suspension of activities for up to 90 days. The fine will be higher if the crime is committed against minors, through the media or on the Internet, as well as by foreign citizens or stateless persons. The relevant provisions are enshrined in the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. The new regulations will come into force 14 days after signing by the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and official publication.
