The world famous chess player presented a book to the Pridnestrovian delegation

Delegation of Pridnestrovian deputies, headed by the Chairman of the PMR Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov held dozens of working meetings in the State Duma of the Russian Federation on the eve. An unplanned conversation took place with the repeated world chess champion and multiple winner of world-class chess tournaments Anatoly Karpov within the framework of one of the meetings, Now he is the Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Nationalities Affairs of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

The Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation announced in 2017 the necessity to make chess lessons compulsory for primary school students. It was noted that the performance indicators of children who play chess at school are 35–40% higher. That is, it has been practically proven that this intellectual game develops a child. Most Russian schools have introduced compulsory chess lessons in the 2019-2020 academic years. Children played chess for 33 hours a year in the first grade, in the second, third and fourth grade - 34 hours. Chess teachers and subject teachers who have undergone professional retraining teach chess according to programs and textbooks developed by the Chess in School Foundation.
