On March 26, the Supreme Council approved the report of the PMR Prosecutor Anatoly Guretsky on the state of law and order in the republic and the work done to strengthen them in 2024. Anatoly Guretsky focused the attention of the deputies in his speech on three areas of the Prosecutor's Office: general supervision, supervision of investigation and inquiry, and ensuring participation in criminal cases. The prosecutor noted an increase in the number of cases of non-payment of wages. The supervisory body conducts scheduled inspections, as well as inspections based on citizens' appeals in this matter. The issue of tax evasion by organizations by failing to formalize labor relations with employees also remains relevant, according to Anatoly Guretsky.
The prosecutor's office supervises the issue of compliance with the social rights of citizens, compliance with the requirements of budget legislation, compliance with current regulations on combating ragweed. Supervision is carried out in the field of economics and environmental protection, as well as the implementation of laws by bodies carrying out operational-search activities, inquiry and preliminary investigation.
As for pension legislation, the Prosecutor of the PMR reported that appeals were isolated over the past year, noting the high level of interaction between the prosecutor's office and the Ministry of Social Security and Protection.
Speaking about participation in lawmaking, Anatoly Guretsky noted that he submitted 22 legislative initiatives to the Supreme Council for consideration last year, and sent 3 requests for interpretation of legal acts. Deputy Chairperson of the Supreme Council Galina Antyufeeva, who heads the Committee on Legislation, Protection of Rights and Freedoms of Citizens, thanked Anatoly Guretsky and the employees of the Prosecutor's Office for participating in the working groups to discuss and prepare draft laws. Galina Antyufeeva noted that the supervisory body considers many appeals forwarded by the Supreme Council and takes effective response measures, which generally indicates an increase in trust in the authorities. Galina Antyufeeva added that the deputies of the relevant Committee paid special attention to the Prosecutor's information on the quality of criminal investigations and support the need to consolidate efforts to improve procedural control over the investigation and judicial consideration of criminal cases. The deputies approved the report of the PMR Prosecutor on the work carried out by the supervisory body in 2024. The corresponding Resolution of the Supreme Council was adopted.
