The Amnesty will be held in Pridnestrovie for the 75th anniversary of the Victory and the 30th anniversary of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic

Deputies adopted today in final reading the decree of the Supreme Council of the PMR "On amnesty in connection with the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the PMR" and "On the procedure for applying the Decree of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic" On Amnesty in connection with the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and the thirtieth anniversary of the founding of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic”.

During the period from 1993 to 2019, the Supreme Council of the PMR issued 11 acts of amnesty. The amnesty this year will extend to a wide range of individuals.

The decision to apply the amnesty act is made individually for each person. The amnesty will be applied to those who have positive characteristics, who stood up for corrections, the Vice Speaker of the parliament added. Under the amnesty, women over 50 years old and men over 55 years old, participants in hostilities to protect the PMR, the USSR, disabled people of groups I and II, pregnant women, many children family, etc., can be sentenced to imprisonment. The innovation of this amnesty will be the release from punishment of persons sentenced to deprivation of liberty, regardless of the prescribed sentence, who have reached the age of 70 years before the completion of the execution of the act of amnesty. In the framework of this amnesty, parliamentarians provide for the possibility of extending the amnesty to persons who did not manage to fully pay the fine or damage to the victims (civil plaintiffs).

Amnesty will be applied within six months. The application of amnesty is assigned to correctional institutions, bodies of inquiry and preliminary investigation, courts, and criminal-executive inspections. At the same time, the decision to apply the amnesty act or to refuse to apply the amnesty act, taken by correctional institutions, inquiry bodies, preliminary investigation bodies, criminal executive inspections, is sanctioned by an authorized territorial prosecutor.
