An open history lesson in lecture format was held on the eve of Victory Day for 9-11 grade pupils of Secondary School No.2 named after A.S. Pushkin in Tiraspol. More than 200 people in total gathered in the assembly hall of the main building of the Pridnestrovian State University. The lecturers were history teacher Natalya Kozyarskaya and deputies of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Youth Parliament Vasily Badyan and Denis Radchenko.
The lesson was divided into two parts. The first was dedicated to the role of the younger generation in the Great Patriotic War. Schoolchildren were told about the exploits of Alexander Matrosov, Nikolai Gastello, Alexey Maresyev, Viktor Tatalikhin, Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya and other heroes whose youth fell during the Great Patriotic War.
They talked in the second part of the open lesson about attempts to falsify history. This is one of the most pressing problems in the post-Soviet space today.
The problem of falsification of history is often discussed in Pridnestrovie. The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact and its historical significance for Bessarabia, the formation of the Moldavian SSR within the USSR, the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian conflict and hostilities of 1990-1992, the role of the Russian peacekeeping operation on the banks of the Dniester – all these significant topics are distorted in neighboring countries today, the Youth Parliament deputies note.
Open lessons and classroom hours dedicated to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War are held in all schools, technical schools and universities of the republic on the eve of May 9. All events are organized within the framework of the “Dialogue on equal terms” educational project of the Ministry of Education of the PMR.
