The regular session of the parliamentary commission on foreign policy and international relations was held in the Supreme Council. Minister of Foreign Affairs Vitaly Ignatiev addressed the deputies with information on the state of affairs in the negotiation process in the "5 + 2" format. The Foreign Minister told about the results of the meeting of the "Permanent meeting on political issues within the framework of the negotiation process on the Pridnestrovian settlement", which took place on May 29-30 in Rome.
Following the negotiations in Rome, the parties signed a protocol. The document refers to the agreements concluded at the end of the past and the beginning of this year. Foreign Minister Vitaly Ignatiev emphasized that the main task remains to solve problems in the interests of people, this is due to the removal of any form of restrictions.
They discussed during the meeting of the deputy commission the implementation of agreements reached within the negotiation process over the past six months. In particular, the issues of apostille of the Pridnestrovian diplomas, the provision of traffic on the bridge over the Dniester River near the village of Bychok, the work of Moldovan schools with the Romanian language of instruction, the participation of Pridnestrovian vehicles in the international movement (the mechanism launch is planned for September 1 of this year).
They discussed in Rome the functioning of Moldovan-Ukrainian posts at the border with Pridnestrovie.
This issue was also given attention at the end of last week during a visit to Pridnestrovie by the UN's senior human rights expert, Thomas Hammarberg. The Ombudsman held several meetings with the leadership of the republic. Thomas Hammarberg assured that he will inform the UN Secretary General about the situation on the Pridnestrovian border.
Members of the commission also discussed the draft resolution of the Supreme Council "On Recognition as a Framework Rule of Law in the Territory of the PMR of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of December 13, 2006". The basic document was adopted by the UN 11 years ago. The convention has about 50 articles. Deputies will consider the document during the plenary session in the second reading mode.
