The Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic today adopted in the second final reading a law-in-draft that amends the law "On the Museum Fund and Museums in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic".
The main goal of the legislative changes is to improve the procedure for recording and protecting cultural valuables that are in the museums of Pridnestrovie. It is envisaged that museums will first enter them in their inventory book after an examination that confirms the cultural value of incoming exhibits. The items will be included in the State Catalog of the Museum Fund, which will centralize the accounting and increase the transparency of the storage of exhibits then.
The new norm will determine the accounting procedure, including identification and registration in the Main Inventory Book (book of receipts). It is also proposed to introduce two types of state registration: primary and centralized. Primary registration involves examination and registration of museum items and collections for subsequent inclusion in the Museum Fund, while centralized registration will ensure the systematization of information in the State Catalog of the Museum Fund.
267769 museum items are registered in the Main Inventory Books of the Museums of Pridnestrovie as of January 1, 2023, which are not legally part of the Museum Fund, since they are not registered in the State Catalog of the Museum Fund in accordance with the law. The adopted amendments to the law will clarify the procedures for the formation of the Museum Fund and its legal registration.
The relevant Committee on Education, Science and Culture reviewed and approved 7 amendments proposed by deputies in order to prepare the law for the second reading. The amendments clarify the wording and specify individual provisions. The adopted amendments to the law “On the Museum Fund and Museums in the PMR” after being signed by the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic will come into force on January 1, 2025.
