The Public Council of Tiraspol discussed relevant topics

Whether historical names should be returned to Tiraspol streets – this issue was discussed in the course of the expanded meeting of the Public Council of the capital. The Council was attended by the deputy of the Supreme Council for the constituency No. 30 “Kirovsky” Grigory Dyachenko, the chairman of the Tiraspol City Council Vadim Doni and the head of the capital state administration Ilona Tyuryaeva.

Historical names of streets

Returning the streets of the previous names is the initiative of the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky. So, for example, the historical name Pokrovskaya (it operated until 1921) was returned to October 25 Street in 2023. For example, it is proposed Rosa Luxembourg Street to call a Chasovennaya, May 1 - Sadovaya, Lunacharsky - Cafedralnaya, and Engels Lane - Nikolaevsky, and leave a double name.

The names of the streets reflect the culture and history of the city, they are living witnesses of the past, the meeting said. The history of Tiraspol does not begin with the advent of Soviet power, but since 1792, the invited to the dialogue emphasized. The city was founded at the direction of Catherine the Great, everything began with the construction of the Middle (Tiraspol) fortress, which was part of the fortifications on the border of the Russian Empire in the Dniester. Therefore, pre-revolutionary time also has the right to save in folk memory.

The chairman of the Tiraspol City Council Vadim Doni noted in his speech that the idea of ​​returning historical streets provides for the preservation of the previous name, and the townspeople will not suffer material damage to change documents.

It was said  in the course of the meeting of the Public Council that the streets should be approached for renaming the streets. For example, there was an opinion about leaving the current name for May 1, as a memory of the Day of International Solidarity of Workers. One of the central streets of the city was also proposed to give the second name in honor of Valentina Solovieva, the legendary leader of the Odema sewing factory.

A representative of the Youth Council Denis Voronin spoke to return the streets of historical names in support of the president’s initiative.

The head of the State Administration of Tiraspol and Dnestrovsk Ilona Tyuryaeva emphasized the importance of the opinion of each resident of the capital in this matter and noted that the opinions of the Tiraspol residents will be listened to other sites.

The question of upcoming elections

Information on the upcoming elections to the Supreme and Local Councils of People's Deputies to members of the Public Council of Tiraspol was voiced by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission Stanislav Kasap. He said that a single voting day will be held on November 30 this year. On the territory of Tiraspol and Dnestrovsk, 9 deputies of the Supreme Council, 42 deputies of the city council, as well as people's deputies of Dnestrovsk, Kremenchug and the village of Novotiraspolsky and the head of the administration of this village and the village will be elected.

Unlike the elections in previous years, on November 30, the vote will begin not at 8 in the morning, but at 7 o’clock. Time was changed at the request of the CEC members following the example of Russia, where the voting in the elections begins at 8 o’clock. The Supreme Council adopted such innovations on June 9. Stanislav Kasap noted that changes in the Technical nature were made to the electoral code regarding the issues of saving financial resources to the elections.

The Head of the Central Election Commission said that the CEC continues to prepare for elections in terms of purchasing material and technical means until the end of summer.

The election campaign will begin September 3, according to the Decree of the Supreme Council. From this date, you can provide documents for nomination to the councils of people's deputies of all levels.

The theme of hopeless dogs

The problem of stray animals was also discussed at the meeting of Tiraspol Public Council. The Chairman of the Council Nikolai Gorobets read out citizens' appeals regarding numerous cases of bites with dogs. It was noted during the discussion that the problem is solved at the legislative level. Parliamentarians adopted in the first reading in the spring the draft of the new law "On responsible handling of dogs". The norms are designed to adjust the issues of liability of the owners, the content of dogs, their walking, registration and regulation of numbers. The main thing is the issue of ensuring the protection of children and adults from dog bites, while attention will be paid to protecting the animals themselves from the cruelty of people. Work is underway to prepare law-in-draft for consideration in the profile parliamentary committee on regional policy issues in the second reading.
