Deputies adopted amendments to the law “On approval of the state target program “Provision of housing for orphans, children left without parental care, persons from among orphans and children left without parental care, for the period 2018–2027 years" in the second final reading. The essence of the changes proposed by the Government was that orphans could choose the type of housing provided to them by the state: an apartment or a residential building. Today at a plenary meeting, the deputies suggested that the Government develop a unified procedure for providing orphans with apartments or residential buildings that are comfortable and meet sanitary requirements.

Totally, within the framework of the state target program, over ten years it is planned to acquire about 600 apartments. According to the deputies, the legislative change will allow for more active implementation of the state program to provide housing for orphans.

In the second final reading, amendments to the law "On the Social Protection of War Veterans" were also adopted. The amendments are aimed at restoring social justice for parents whose children under the age of 18 died from the effects of the 1992 hostilities in peacetime. The state will provide such citizens with benefits, including payment of utilities in the amount of 50% within the limits of consumption standards and free travel by all types of public transport except taxi.

The adopted laws are sent to the President for signature.

The legislative initiative of the Government regarding amendments to the law “On Alternative Civil Service” was supported in the first reading. The purpose of the law-in-draft is to provide the possibility of exercising the right to replace the military service to call up alternative civilian service. The document defines the field of activity where citizens can perform such a service: in health care organizations, social security, housing and communal services, subordinate to the executive bodies of state power, including state administrations of cities and regions. The law-in-draft will be prepared by the relevant legislation committee for consideration in the second reading.
