The Olympic Reserve School has been operating in Tiraspol on the basis of school No. 4 since 2019. It is a unique institution where budding young athletes can study and train at the same time. Here they teach such sports as swimming, acrobatics, athletics, cycling, freestyle wrestling, Greco-Roman wrestling, boxing, rowing, kayaking and canoeing. Sports training programs must be combined with the educational process. A number of additions are made to the laws "On Education" and "On Physical Culture and Sports in the PMR" for this. For example, the concepts of "sports training program" and "training process" are introduced. The relevant legislations were adopted today in the first reading at an online plenary meeting.
Amendment of legislation in this area is supported by the leadership of the School. According to the director of the institution Gennady Narivonchik, previously programs in sports were not combined with the educational process.
As the director of the Olympic Reserve School told the parliamentary press service, the building was renovated in 2018-2019 at the expense of the capital investment fund. The canteen of the educational institution has been completely refurbished. A hostel is provided for athletes from other cities.
The School has a medical center. Qualified doctors and nurses work here. The children undergo medical examination, they are provided with the necessary medical assistance.
There is an exposition of the sports equipment of the Olympic champions in the foyer of the School building. It includes the boat of Larisa Popova, resident Tiraspol who won the rowing competition at the 1980 Moscow Olympics; a bow of Natalya Valeeva - bronze medalist of the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992 and other exhibits.
Young athletes study from the 5th to the 9th grade at the School of Olympic Reserve. Trainings take place in the halls of the city's sports schools. For example, rowers use simulators at a rowing school near the Dniester, and the students of the school practice on the water. After receiving basic general education, students can continue their studies at the school. Basically, these are the best - those who got into the national teams. Graduates receive the specialty of a teacher of physical education at the end of four more years of study.
The Committee for Education, Sports, Information and Youth Policy and the State Service for Sports will continue to work on legislations. The documents will be prepared for the second reading.
