Appeals of citizens and organizations

Under the special control of the Ministry of Social Protection is the work with the appeals of Pridnestrovians. Last year, the state body received more than 3000 applications from citizens and organizations of Pridnestrovie. The topics are different – pension supplements, increase in salaries and benefits, difficulties in obtaining social housing. Each case is special, behind each situation there is human pain. In addition, the website of the Ministry of Social Protection has an Internet reception. The employees of the department were able to process almost 600 appeals from citizens by means of this.

Support for pensioners and children

More than 95 thousand people receive an old-age pension in Pridnestrovie. Pridnestrovian pensions were increased by 5% with an additional payment - up to 11% last year. Now the minimum pension is 693 rubles. The period for paying childcare benefits has been extended from one and a half to two years in order to support motherhood and childhood, from May 1, 2021. This legislative initiative of the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic was supported by the deputies of the Supreme Council.

Support measures during the pandemic

The state continued to provide support to citizens and businesses in connection with the restrictive measures against the coronavirus in 2021. Social support services were provided in a timely manner. Individual entrepreneurs who were forced to suspend work received monetary compensation in the amount of 1647 rubles per month, the Minister for Social Protection and Labor said. Organizations that suspended their activities during the quarantine period were reimbursed for the costs of downtime, Elena Kulichenko added.

Social help

Social support for privileged categories of citizens was continued last year, including benefits for housing and communal services, travel, obtaining medicines, wheelchairs, prosthetic and orthopedic products, and medical care.

Changes in legislation have come into force, thanks to which families where minor children are dependent on a visually impaired person of the 1st group can receive a 100 percent discount on housing and utility bills. The law “On social protection of war veterans” was also improved, thanks to which, since the beginning of last year, disabled defenders and Afghans can receive compensation for the cost of repairing a car that was purchased on preferential terms. Pensioners without a disability group have the right to receive prosthetic and orthopedic products and wheelchairs free of charge from January 1, 2021.

Work to ensure an accessible environment was continued as part of the Equal Opportunities state program. Ramps have been installed in many social and educational institutions. In addition, the Minister for Social Protection and Labor informed that 35 disabled people received electric wheelchairs in 2021.

Elena Kulichenko noted that last year the categories of recipients of subsidies for the purchase of housing were expanded. 106 young families were able to buy their own housing in 2021 thanks to the state program.

Acquisition of housing for orphans

Special attention was paid at the reporting board of the Ministry of Social Protection and Labor to supporting orphans and children left without parental care. They were able to relax in the summer in children's health camps. As for the purchase of housing for this preferential category, 180 people were added to the queue last year.

8 million 234 thousand rubles were allocated for the purchase of housing for orphans, 39 apartments were purchased in 2021 under the current state program, although the purchase of 34 houses and apartments was originally planned. 1188 orphans are now waiting for their homes.
