Mikhail Burla, "The mechanism will remove a lot of restrictions"

14.03.2018

The Supreme Council in the second final reading adopted legislations, drafted by parliamentarian Mikhail Burla. The head of the Committee on Education, Science and Culture proposed to legislatively consolidate the procedure for passing the state final certification in the form of USE in schools, as well as admission to universities. As the legislator emphasized, the proposed mechanism was developed jointly with representatives of the Ministry of Education and the State University.

It is proposed to introduce a number of amendments to the laws "On Higher and Post-Graduate Professional Education" and "On Education". According to the legislations, it is planned to cancel additional USE. The format, valid for several years, Mikhail Burla is sure, must be changed, because it has negative consequences.

At the proposal of the parliamentarian, graduates will only take two compulsory subjects - their native language (Russian, Moldovan or Ukrainian) and mathematics. What and in what form will applicants pass in the framework of admission, universities will determine independently. Graduates of past years who did not pass the exam will be able to pass the entrance exams on the basis of the university.

In addition, graduates will pass math without dividing into a basic and more complex, profile level. Earlier this complicated the admission to some specialties. Another innovation concerns those wishing to re-pass the mandatory USE.

These changes will begin to work from this year. As for the commissioning of the Unified State Exam on History, Mikhail Burla noted that the state examinations on this subject are planned to be introduced in 2020. Students and teachers need time to prepare.
