Residents of the village of Novotiraspolsky bid farewell to winter and welcomed spring, celebrating Maslenitsa (Shrovetide). Mass festivities were held in the center of the village. The holiday with pancakes, sweet treats and songs was organized by Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council, leader of the "Renewal" party Galina Antyufeeva. The village is part of her capital constituency No. 25 "Western".
Pridnestrovians pass on traditions and culture from generation to generation. Maslenitsa is considered a holiday that unites people of different nationalities. This is one of the favorite folk holidays, symbolizing the arrival of spring. Slavic peoples have celebrated it for a long time. Thousands of years ago, during heathenry times, Maslenitsa was timed to coincide with the celebration of the spring equinox. With the adoption of Christianity after the Baptism of Rus, the holiday was filled with new meaning. Maslenitsa began to be celebrated on the eve of Lent before Easter. Pridnestrovians have preserved this tradition.

Activists of the district helped prepare treats for the holiday. The hostesses of the village of Novotiraspolsky baked about a thousand pancakes. They warmed them up in a field kitchen, brewed tea and made mulled wine nearby.
Creative groups of the city performed for the residents of the district. The organizers treated everyone who came to the holiday heartily. In addition to pancakes, there were sweets, bagels, cookies. The holiday was organized so that people could meet, communicate and have a good time, said Viorika Kokhtareva, Chairperson of the Union of Russian Communities of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. Activists of the "Renewal"party handed out flyers with information about the holiday, with congratulations and wishes. Children of the district took part in fun competitions with animators, danced and played snowballs. Then, according to tradition, Pre-Lenten festival effigy was burned in the village square as a sign of the departure of winter and forgiveness of grievances. From March 3, believers begin Lent, it will last 48 days – until Easter, which is celebrated on April 20 this year.
