The "Textbook" state target program was developed and approved in 2016. It was designed for five years and made it possible to provide Pridnestrovian schools with textbooks and manuals, including in Moldovan and Ukrainian. In addition it was possible within the framework of the state program to provide special educational organizations – correctional schools with the necessary educational and methodological literature. The Deputy Minister of Education of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic told about this at the plenary session to the deputies of the Supreme Council, presenting a report on the implementation of the state program for 5 years.
8 textbooks were published in 2018, the number of copies of which exceeds 5 thousand within the framework of the state program. 9 titles of educational literature were printed in 2019, including for schools with the Moldovan and Ukrainian languages of instruction. The burden on the budget increased in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, so part of the funds had to be transferred to the fight against COVID-19. Nevertheless, the work of temporary creative teams for the preparation of educational publications was organized. Last year the work of temporary creative teams was organized under the "Textbook" program to translate 6 educational publications (for general education organizations with the Moldovan language of instruction - 3 copies; with the Ukrainian language of instruction - 3 copies), and 6 titles were published with a total circulation of 2 400 copies (for general education organizations with the Moldovan language of instruction).
Chairman of the Committee on Education, Public Associations and Mass Media Igor Buga noted that some deputies consider that the costs of publishing the necessary educational literature for educational organizations should be included in the estimate of the Ministry of Education. Although the head of the profile committee himself is in favor of keeping the scheme the same - the Supreme Council adopts the state program, and then hears a report on it.
The Supreme Council approved the report on the implementation of the "Textbook" state target program for 2017-2021 and adopted a draft resolution. The new state program for the publication of textbooks for 2022-2026 was adopted by the Supreme Council last year. It will continue to provide schools in the republic with textbooks in Moldovan and Ukrainian. For example, textbooks for primary classes on mathematics, the world around them, and a textbook on the history of Pridnestrovie for grade 11 will be published for schools with the Moldovan language of instruction. Textbooks on biology and geometry will be translated from Russian. For Ukrainian schools, translations of Russian textbooks on biology from grades 5 to 9, translation from Russian of a textbook on the history of the PMR for grades 11 are expected. Textbooks will be published for Russian schools from grades 8 to 11 to study the Moldovan and Ukrainian languages. Kindergartens, special (correctional) educational organizations, professional institutions will also provide educational and methodological literature until 2026.
