The longest session of the State Duma in the 21st century came to an end: for the first time since 1999, the deputies worked from January until almost August. And the records do not end there: the Duma members managed to analyze almost all the "legislative debris" and take many significant initiatives that will change the lives of Russians. According to the speaker, the session was not only the longest, but also the most intense and responsible. During the session, significant events took place in the life of our country. First of all, these are the elections of the President of the Russian Federation, the appointment of the Chairman of the Government, the Chairman of the Accounting Chamber, the body of parliamentary control. Vyacheslav Volodin recalled the President's message to the Federal Assembly: the tasks set by the head of state require legislative support, and a significant part of these tasks have already been implemented.
During the spring session, which began in January 2018, the deputies held 50 plenary sessions, 13 of which were additional. Only 57 remained of the more than two thousand legislations that were never brought before the Chamber, in other words, "legislative barriers". The quality of the law-making process also increased.
The speaker of the State Duma considers the format of the dialogue to be the key to resolving sensitive issues. That is why he urged not to ignore such topics. Among them there are questions of improving the pension system.
He recalled that amendments to the law-in-draft on improving the pension system are accepted until September 24. Volodin did not rule out that, after analyzing the proposals, the deputies will make decisions that will help to find consensus in the society. Problems of renovation, assistance to defrauded co-investors, development of the agricultural sector - these topics were key in the work of the Communist Party in the spring session, said faction leader Gennady Zyuganov. The communists have priority in improving the social and economic course of the country.
The smallest in the State Duma faction - "Fair Russia", it is represented by 23 deputies - took second place after "The United Russia" in the number of introduced legislations.
LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky, summarizing the session, shared the idea of increasing the role of opposition factions.
They told in "The United Russia" that they have already begun work on preparing the draft budget for the next three-year plan. It should be submitted to the State Duma by October 1, 2018.
Neverov touched on the topic of changing the schedule of the State Duma, which will come into force in September: now the plenary sessions will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 to 14:00. This, according to the deputy, will help to work at meetings more effectively.
