The State Duma of the Russian Federation of the VIII convocation began work. The first meeting of the lower house of the Russian parliament of the new convocation took place today. The meeting was opened by the representative of the United Russia faction Valentina Tereshkova. Let us remind you that the parliamentary elections in Russia were held from 17 to 19 September.
The parliamentarians adopted a number of organizational decisions and elected the leadership of the State Duma. Five factions were created in the new convocation - United Russia (324 deputies), the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (57 deputies), the Liberal Democratic Party (23 representatives), Just Russia - for the Truth (28 people) and New People (15 parliamentarians).
Vyacheslav Volodin, who headed the State Duma in the previous convocation, became the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation of the VIII convocation. 360 out of 450 deputies voted for this decision. Earlier, Volodin's candidacy for this post was supported by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Deputy Speakers were also elected. Alexander Zhukov and Ivan Melnikov became the First Deputy Chairmen of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
Viacheslav Volodin noted in his speech at the first plenary session that the work of the State Duma deputies should be meaningful and focused on the final result, and populism is destructive. Viacheslav Volodin recalled that the President of the Russian Federation gave part of his powers to citizens, who now, through the deputies, form the composition of the Government.
Therefore, Vyacheslav Volodin emphasized, the deputies have every opportunity to ask the Government and offer to report to the responsible persons on certain issues.
Viacheslav Volodin called on the deputies of all five factions to submit their proposals for discussion.
32 committees will work in the new convocation of the State Duma, there are new ones. This is the Committee on Education, Tourism and Development of Tourism Infrastructure, Youth Policy, Protection of Competition, Small and Medium Enterprises, Property, Land and Property Relations.
Leonid Kalashnikov (KPRF) retained the post of Head of the Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots. Konstantin Zatulin also retained the post of first deputy Head of the Committee on CIS Affairs. Commenting on the election to this Committee, the parliamentarian recalled that since 1993 he has been working in its composition and in the first convocation directed its work.
Pridnestrovie also voted for deputies to the State Duma of the Russian Federation. Sergei Neverov ("United Russia") took over as Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Sergey Chizhov ("United Russia") and Mikhail Shchapov ("KPRF") will continue to work in the Committee on Budget and Taxes, chaired by Andrey Makarov, Artem Turov ("United Russia") - in the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, headed by Leonid Kalashnikov. Marina Orgeeva and Andrey Gorokhov, first elected to the State Duma of the Russian Federation, entered the Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs (headed by Yaroslav Nilov) and the Health Protection Committee (headed by Dmitry Khubezov), respectively.
Today, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin met with the deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the VIII convocation in the St. George Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace. Vladimir Putin noted that the composition of the lower house of Parliament has been renewed by almost half: 218 out of 450 deputies will work in the State Duma for the first time. Such a vector for renewal was set by the United Russia party. The President of the Russian Federation noted at the same time, that continuity is important for successful legislative work and the development of the best parliamentary traditions.
Chairman of the State Duma Viacheslav Volodin noted in the course of the meeting with the President that an increase in the number of committees in the State Duma will allow deputies to work more effectively with ministries and adopt better laws.
