Today is exactly one year of work of the Supreme Council of the VII convocation. The 1st meeting of the 1st session of the VII convocation was held in the plenary hall in compliance with all quarantine requirements and sanitary standards on December 8, 2020. It was from that day that the powers of the deputies elected on the Single Election Day on November 29 were recognized.
The first session was opened by the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky. The PMR President recalled then that every parliamentarian in his work must follow the orders and opinions of voters. Vadim Krasnoselsky knows about the work of the deputy firsthand – he was elected to Parliament in 2015 and for a year led the Supreme Council of the VI convocation until he won the presidential elections.
“For me as President the choice of the people is important and the fact of the formation of the legislative branch of Government is important. Today's parliament will consist of 33 deputies, but the workload will not be less, but even more, especially in the pandemic. Therefore, dear deputies of the Supreme Council, tune in to work. It was the Supreme Council that formed the legislative base and the executive branch of our republic. Significance is great, followed by responsibility. The responsibility is also great", the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Vadim Krasnoselsky addressed the deputies of the VII convocation on December 8, 2020.
The structure of the Supreme Council of Pridnestrovie has been changing for 30 years. There were 50-60 deputies in the first two convocations, when the parliament was bicameral, then since 2000 (since the third convocation) the interests of Pridnestrovians in the legislative body of power were represented by 43 deputies. The number of the deputy corps has decreased to 33 people since 2020 (from the VII convocation). Practically all the deputies have been working for many years in the highest representative body of power in the current convocation. There are two new faces - Boris German from Dubossary and Stepan Stepanov, representing the interests of the residents of Sukleya. But the deputy work is not new for them: both people's deputies previously worked in city councils.
According to Oleg Bayev, the optimization of the parliamentary corps did not affect the efficiency of the Parliament. The activities of the PMR Supreme Council remained harmonious and constructive.
The burden on parliamentarians has really increased. The deputies have considered hundreds of legislations over the past year, 322 of them have already been adopted and signed by the President. At the same time, deputy work is not limited to legislative activity: work with voters in the constituency is also important and no less responsible.
The Speaker of the Parliament emphasizes: despite the fact that the workload has grown, the deputies are coping with all the tasks perfectly. All legislative decisions that the Supreme Council makes are taken for the benefit of the state: for a stable economy, confident development of industry, agriculture, entrepreneurship, for social protection of all categories of citizens of the republic.
The deputies of the VII convocation have the first year of work behind, in the next month - the adoption of the law on the state budget for 2022, and in the medium term - the continuation of work on improving the legislation of Pridnestrovie in modern conditions and harmonization with Russia, as well as the improvement of the districts and assistance in solving problems their inhabitants.
