The first Pridnestrovian deputies gathered today in the plenary hall of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic to learn about the state of the Pridnestrovian economy at the current stage. The Parliament Speaker Alexander Korshunov and relevant ministers were invited to the conversation.
Minister of Economic Development, First Deputy Head of Government Sergei Obolonik began his report with a general assessment of the current situation.
He told item by item about what kind of pressure measures that impede the normal functioning of Pridnestrovian enterprises are used by the Moldovan authorities. The Rybnitsa metallurgical plant operates unstably, constantly awaiting environmental approval from the Commission for Emergency Situations of Moldova. This procedure has extended to the Rybnitsa cement plant now. Manufacturers have been working on new logistics schemes for the export and import of goods and raw materials for more than a year now – delivery routes have become longer, more complex and more costly, accordingly. Another unpleasant surprise has been prepared for Pridnestrovian industrialists since August: Moldova has introduced a new procedure for processing Pridnestrovian export-import cargo.
Economists have calculated that Pridnestrovian enterprises will spend an additional $3 million a year on the new procedure for clearing cargo in Moldova. This is money that should have gone to our budget. The current situation is aggravated by a long-standing unresolved banking problem – it is impossible to open accounts in Moldova.
The First Deputy Chairman of the Government reminded the founders of the republic about the situation with the reduction in natural gas supplies last year. He talked about how he managed to maintain the operation of industrial enterprises and provide heat to the population by distributing available resources.
These factors influence the overall economic situation in the republic. Therefore, the main thing is to preserve the possibility of fulfilling the state’s social obligations to the population. Government agencies are working together on this issue.
The economy was the main, but not the only topic of the meeting of the Consultative Assembly. The first deputies were interested in the safety of the population, the normalization of relations with neighboring countries Moldova and Ukraine, and NATO military exercises in Moldova.
The first Pridnestrovian deputies adopted at the end of the meeting a resolution – to send proposals to the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that is the Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, to overcome the critical situation in our economy.
