The Labor Legislation Standards were updated by Deputies

14.05.2025

The deputy corps adopted amendments and additions to the Labor Code of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and a number of related laws in the third and final reading at the plenary session.

The Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic proposed to bring labor legislation standards into line with the modern realities of labor relations. The Interdepartmental Working Group, which included representatives of relevant ministries and departments, as well as representatives of the Union of Agrarians, Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Pridnestrovie and the Federation of Trade Unions of Pridnestrovie, worked on the law-in-draft for a long time.

The legislative initiative was adopted in the first reading at the plenary session back in October last year, after which work on the package of legislations was continued in the relevant parliamentary Committee on Social Policy, Healthcare, Labor, Family and Childhood. More than 100 amendments were developed to adopt amendments and additions to the Labor Code in the final reading.

The new provisions in the Labor Code, adopted at the plenary session, affect issues of social insurance, state supervision and control over compliance with labor legislation.

Sergey Cheban noted that the amendments and additions to the Labor Code were developed taking into consideration the parity of the trade union, employer and state, as well as the balance of interests of the employee and employer.

The labor legislation clarified the mechanism for concluding and terminating an employment contract, engaging employees in overtime work, as well as work on weekends and holidays, calculating the length of service that gives the right to yearly paid leave.

The new provisions in the labor legislation will come into force 30 days after signing by the President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and official publication.
