Shortage of doctors and wage arrears

15.07.2020

There is a shortage of emergency doctors, therapists, and pediatricians in Pridnestrovie. This was announced to the deputies of the Supreme Council by the Commissioner for Human Rights in the PMR Vyacheslav Kosinsky, presenting a report on the work over the past year. In his opinion, the main reason for the current situation is the insufficient level of remuneration, the lack of prospects for housing and an effective system of advanced training. There are not enough medical personnel in TB dispensaries. These institutions are staffed by doctors by 87% in Tiraspol, in Bendery - 75%, Slobodzeya and Grigoriopol - 66%, Dubossary - 62.5%, Dnestrovsk - 50%, Kamenka - 33%. Staffing by nurses amounted to 100% in the institutions of Dnestrovsk, Slobodzeya, Kamenka, Dubossary, in other cities - from 60 to 90%.

Vyacheslav Kosinsky focused on the attention of deputies on the problem of employment of disabled people. Today there are over 17 thousand of them in the republic. There are approximately 1300 children. The Ombudsman cited the employer’s disinterest in providing jobs for people with disabilities and in creating conditions for their work as the reasons. Vyacheslav Kosinsky noted a change in the attitude of people towards people with disabilities, today their rights are increasingly recognized in the republic.

The Commissioner for Human Rights focused on the issue of late payment of wages. The amount owed is over 16 million rubles. The list of debtors includes 31 organizations. Among them there is JSC Litmash, State Unitary Enterprise Bendery Factory for the Production of Technical Information Media.

As for provision of housing for orphans, last year the state acquired 62 apartments. At the same time, 149 people were put on the waiting list for comfortable housing in 2019.
