The Republican Union of Defenders of the PMR is 30

The Palace of the Republic remembered the feat of the Pridnestrovian defenders who joined the ranks of volunteers to defend Pridnestrovie in the early 1990s. The union of courageous and caring people was officially registered after the military events of 1992. The Public Organization "Republican Union of Defenders of the PMR" was created at the founding conference in the club of the Tochlitmash plant named after   Kirov on November 19, 1994. The Union's goals and objectives were described by its head Valery Shirkov at a ceremonial meeting dedicated to the organization's 30th anniversary.

The Republican Union of Defenders plans to continue developing all the main areas of its activities, Valery Shirkov emphasized, and to continue working with young people in the historical and patriotic direction. The Chairman of the Republican Union of Defenders of the PMR expressed gratitude to the republic's leadership, deputies of the Supreme Council and local Councils, heads of ministries and departments for the assistance provided to the public organization.

The Law "On Social Protection of War Veterans" is in effect in Pridnestrovie, which prescribes the state's social obligations to veterans, combatants and other categories. There is no analogue to the system of benefits that operates in Pridnestrovie in any republic of the post-Soviet space as the Chairman of the Committee on Education, Public Associations and Mass Media Igor Buga noted.

Igor Buga conveyed to the leadership of the Republican Union of Defenders of the PMR a welcoming address from the Chairman of the Supreme Council Alexander Korshunov. In his congratulations, the speaker emphasized the role of the PMR defenders in the development of the Pridnestrovian statehood. Alexander Korshunov expressed gratitude to the defenders for their active life position and for the contribution they make to the patriotic education of the younger generation of Pridnestrovians. Those present honored the memory of the defenders who died during the armed aggression of Moldova against Pridnestrovie. The memory of the fallen fighters is perpetuated, noted the Chairman of the republican public organization "Union of Veterans of the Republican Guard" Victor Katareu. The organization is part of the Republican Union of Defenders. Victor Katareu said that he took part in military operations in the Dubossary and Koshnitsa directions. He joined the ranks of the Dubossary company of the Republican Guard as a volunteer after the tragic events that took place on December 13, 1991. Early in the morning of that day, Moldovan special police squad guardsmen dressed in uniform attacked a post set up on the Dubossary Bridge and a traffic militia post at the exit from the Lunga microdistrict. Many participants in military operations to protect the PMR were awarded orders and medals for their personal contribution to the defense, formation and development of the PMR, for active public activity, conscientious work and in connection with the 30th anniversary of the formation of the Republican Union of Defenders by decree of the President of the PMR Vadim Krasnoselsky. Jubilee medals were presented to the First President of the PMR Igor Smirnov and the heads of regional branches of the Republican Union.
