The PMR Prosecutor's Office activity last year

The Prosecutor's Office of the PMR received 5241 appeals about the violation of the rights and freedoms of citizens in 2020. The number of applications increased by 2.6% compared to 2019. Pridnestrovians who appealed to the Prosecutor's Office, asked to clarify the provisions of the current legislation in various spheres of life. Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the need to comply with quarantine measures, citizens' appeals were received by the Prosecutor's Office of the PMR through the Internet reception, by mail and through special boxes located at the entrance to the buildings of territorial supervisory bodies, hotline was organized. The Prosecutor of the PMR submitted a report to the Supreme Council on the activities over the past year. This issue was included in the agenda of the Legislation Committee.

As noted in the information provided by the supervisory authority during 2019-2020, the prosecutor's office carried out scheduled inspections in terms of compliance with the legislation on citizens' appeals. The prosecutor of the republic Anatoly Guretsky sent law-in-draft to the Supreme Council to eliminate the identified gaps and inaccuracies in the norms of the law "On appeals of citizens and legal entities, as well as public associations". The Deputy adopted the law-in-draft in the second reading on the 3rd of March. The document has been sent for signature to the PMR President.

Salary arrears to employees of various organizations amounted to more than 2.5 million rubles in 2020. Prosecutors issued orders to recover unpaid wages. This amount was 2 million 243 thousand rubles in 2019.

On behalf of the President of the PMR, inspections were conducted of employers' compliance with the legislation on payment for sick leave for childcare due to the fact that the work of kindergartens was suspended. The prosecutor's office revealed violations of the procedure for transferring closed sheets of temporary disability to employers.

The supervisory authority carried out inspections of compliance with legislation in the sphere of education, social protection, public administration, protection of the rights of minors and other areas. More than 20 pages report was presented. The deputy corps will consider the information of the PMR Prosecutor's Office at a plenary session. The dedicated committee proposes to take note of the document.
