Public Expert Council of the Pridnestrovian State University graduates was established this year in order to provide feedback with the graduates of the university, the formation of professional abilities of students and assistance to the assignment of graduates, as well as the development of the image of the university, raising the prestige of higher education. The first meeting of the Council was held in April with the participation of university graduates and university administration. Another June meeting brought together directors of institutes and branches, deans, faculty members. The discussion at the second meeting was on the theme “85 years of PSU named after T.G. Shevchenko: the place, role and opportunities”.
It is worth noting that today the Pridnestrovian State University is a major scientific, educational and cultural center. PSU cooperates with leading Russian universities. 13,000 students study there, more than 1,800 employees work there, 800 of them - the teachers of the university. Pridnestrovian State University is at a new stage of development - focusing on Russian educational standards system, the university chose the Bologna system of education. The teaching staff is also working on the creation of the university complex, which will combine the direction of specialized secondary and higher vocational education. This will create a new approach to the preparation of multi-level professionals within a single scientific and educational institution. Speaking about the creation of conditions for improvement of education, staff of the university noted that the work to create a public expert council plays an important role in this direction.
Speaker of parliament Mikhail Burla described this form of interaction between the authorities, teachers and graduates as efficient. Requirements of employers to the graduates of PSU were discussed at the meeting. Among them – there is ability to think and work in a team, accept innovative tasks, arguments to present ideas to use the foreign languages and information about foreign economic activity as a whole. It was about the capabilities of the university to meet requirements of time.
The participants paid attention to the preparation of popular specialties in the sphere of construction, engineering. They also talked about the methods of teaching students, about the development of future specialists of logical and systematic thinking. In this regard, Mikhail Burla noted the importance of professional development of high school teachers; improve their skills, for example, in the leading Russian universities.
The role of practice in training was discussed during the dialogue. If we talk about the training of future teachers, the practical training at the school allows students to acquire the necessary skills. The university also trains specialists in such areas where students are not always able to get some practical experience. Mikhail Burla being the head of the department of economic geography and regional economy in Pridnestrovian State University knows very problematic side of this process.
Attraction of practitioners to the educational process according to the participants of the meeting will be the topic of the next meeting of the Public Expert Council of PSU. It is scheduled for September this year.
