The law on granting the right of discounted travel on public transport for children and students under 23 years of age will appear in Pridnestrovie. The legislative initiative was developed by deputies of the parliamentary Committee on Social Policy and Healthcare Sergey Cheban, Valentin Matveychuk, Vasily Kunitsky, Yakov Galak and Vladimir Pelin. The draft law was adopted in the first reading in the course of today's meeting of the Committee.
Benefits for travel on public transport were spelled out in the corresponding Resolution of the Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic previously. The authors of the draft law clarified that advantages and privileges can only be established by law and must comply with the principles of social justice according to the Constitution of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. The new law "On granting the right to discounted travel on public transport to certain categories of citizens" will enshrine all the benefits currently in force in the republic, the authors specified.
For example, the law will enshrine the right to free travel throughout the year for children under 7 years old, Suvorov pupils, cadets and students of the state general educational institution "Olympic Reserve School". The law will include a benefit for paying for travel on public transport during the academic year for schoolchildren, students of universities, technical schools and colleges, as well as cadets and students of the "Tiraspol Law Institute named after Kutuzov" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
The law-in-draft "On granting the right to discounted travel on public transport to certain categories of citizens" will be considered by the deputy corps in the first reading at the next plenary session. It is expected to be adopted in the second final reading before the end of the year and will come into force on January 1, 2025.
