The first meeting of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in the VI session of the VII convocation took place in the plenary hall on September 13. Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Korshunov told reporters about plans for legislative work for the autumn session. The speaker emphasized that it will be necessary to make serious decisions on issues related to filling the state budget, taking into account the situation in both foreign policy and the economy.

“This includes support for enterprises in the real sector of the economy, social policy and the law on the republican budget for 2024, which has already been submitted to the Supreme Council in the form of a bill prepared by the Government, of course. This will be one of the main legislations. Legislators have to consider such a large document in 2.5 months under current law. A very important task for the state and all government bodies: to ensure that all social obligations by the state are fulfilled in full and on time in 2024. There is indeed a decrease in the volume of financial resources in the revenue side of the republican budget, based on the law-in-draft. Our task is to optimize costs in certain areas,” noted Alexander Korshunov.

The Parliament Chairman explained that during the second and third reading of the draft law on the republican budget for 2024, expenditures on target programs and development funds, including the Capital Investment Fund, will most likely be reduced.

Other areas of parliamentary legislative activity in the coming months include a modern law on urban planning, issues related to the registration of land plots, the land cadastre, issues related to housing and communal services, including the removal and disposal of household waste.

The Chairman of the Supreme Council emphasized that the relevant parliamentary Committee (headed by Vice-Speaker Galina Antyufeeva) is working to amend the Civil Code of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic as part of the protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens.

The speaker emphasized that a state target program for supplying apartments and houses with water meters at the expense of the state is in the process of development.

Alexander Korshunov noted that the implementation of such a state program will require large financial investments, about 12 million rubles per year. The state program will last for 5 years, but when it starts to operate depends on the capabilities of the state budget. Parliamentarians will make a decision when considering the law-in-draft on the republican budget for 2024 or subsequent years.
