From November 3 to November 4, the 12th Assembly of the Russian World, organized by the Russian World Foundation and the International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature, was held in Tver. The Assembly is the largest event in the activities of the Russian World Foundation. By tradition, the forum is dedicated to the celebration of the Day of National Unity.
The participants and guests of the Assembly are delegates from 69 countries of the world and 33 cities of Russia - political and public figures, diplomats, scientists, representatives of associations of compatriots, clergy, cultural and art workers, university lecturers and teachers of Russian schools, domestic and foreign journalists. A delegation from Pridnestrovie took part in the work of the international forum. It includes the deputy of the Supreme Council Ilona Tyuryaeva, the head of the CEC Elena Gorodetskaya, the minister of education Tatiana Loginova and the chairman of the Bendery city council of people's deputies Yuri Kara.
On November 3, the grand opening of the forum took place at the Tver Academic Drama Theater. A welcoming message was voiced, addressed to the organizers and participants of the Assembly by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
As stated in the greeting of the head of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, regardless of the nationality and religion of the participants and guests of the Assembly, there is a common love for Russia and a sincere interest in its history, present and future.
One of the central events of the Assembly was the panel discussion "The World Culture of Russian Culture", which was held by the Chairman of the Board of the Russian World Foundation, the Chairman of the Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation on Education and Science Vyacheslav Nikonov. As part of the Assembly’s work, he presented awards to winners and winners of the 3rd International Competition for Young Journalists "Co-Creation" and the 2nd TV International Competition "Correspondent of the Russian World".
The program of the forum also includes events dedicated to the 700th anniversary of the feat of the holy Prince Michael of Tver and the 650th anniversary of the repose of the holy blessed Princess Anna of Kashin. The region marks the dates in 2018. In addition, a solemn opening ceremony of the bust of Field Marshal-General Iosif Gurko, the hero of the Russian-Turkish war of 1877–78, took place in the village of Sakharovo as part of the Assembly. Near Tver, in Sakharov, the estate was located, here he was buried. Today at this place stands the temple, which is also a museum. During the discussion events, the versatility and global nature of Russian culture as a world phenomenon were examined, and ways of preserving and developing culture as a unique resource of international humanitarian cooperation in the modern world were marked.
On the Day of National Unity, the guests visited the historical places of Tver, the Imperial Palace, and also took part in a chair ride dedicated to the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.
