Rights of the Ombudsman and other changes to the legislation of the PMR


The Committee on Legislation, Protection of the Rights and Freedoms of Citizens considered today a number of legislations that are prepared for submission to the plenary session of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

The agenda, for example, considered a package of legislative initiatives that expand the powers of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the PMR. Changes are made to 8 laws. The legal status of the Ombudsman is being clarified, his term of office will be extended to 7 years, it is proposed to improve the procedure for his election by the Supreme Council, expand the possibilities for applying to the court and give the right to send suggestions and comments to state authorities, local self-government and civil servants. The Legislation Committee prepared amendments to each of the 8 legislations for the second reading.

Changes to the legislation proposed by the Supreme Court were discussed today. It is proposed to introduce a new chapter into the Code of Civil Procedure that will regulate the referral of patients with substance abuse, drug addiction and alcoholism to special medical and labor dispensaries. Amendments to the law are prepared for consideration in the first reading.
