Deputies of the parliamentary committee on public associations for sports, information and youth policy have not developed a unified position on the law-in-draft on autonomous institutions proposed by the government. The Committee member Andrei Safonov supposes that "now is not the time for its adoption".
Parliamentarians in the course of the meeting agreed to continue discussion of this law-in-draft without taking a final decision on it. Moreover, the Government initiated a workshop on this issue with the invitation to talk to representatives of the Supreme Council.
Deputies of the profile parliamentary committee by means of amendments to the law "On Physical Culture and Sport in the PMR" made an attempt to revive the mass physical culture movement "Ready for Labor and Defense", inherent in the past years. This practice has become widespread in recent years in the Russian Federation. The essence of the legislative initiative is the introduction of the GTO (Ready for labor and defense) standards in secondary schools. Their surrender will carry a voluntary order. At the same time, those who pass these standards will have certain preferences, for example, when they enter universities.
